How do you feel about college sports players getting paid money? I don’t think college sports players should get money because they would spend their money irresponsibly. College students don’t know how to manage their money, and there wouldn’t be anyone to help guide them through money situations. If college students did get paid money, they would use their money and spend it on stuff they don’t need, when instead that money could go towards the colleges with getting improvements and upgrades.

If college students got paid money, there would be a lot of disagreement over who gets more money, or who gets less. Would only the top All-Star athletes get paid more, or would they all get paid the same amount? If some students feel they aren’t getting paid enough they could quit which would lead to that team not having enough players. If college students did get paid money, there would be a conflict for who gets the most checks.

Athletes may never go to their classes if their coaches are paying them money. Many of them don’t want to go to classes already, but when these students get paid, they will never go to class and get good grades.

Finally, even though these college student-athletes may be playing at an advanced level, they still aren’t playing professionally, Anderson notes. It is not their job to play sports; it is an extracurricular activity that is pursued while pursuing a higher education.
